"I am a mermaid", she says,
     "I come through your water tap.
     My family lived in the south
     before they came to this town.
     My family live in an elevator
     over on second street.
     When they have breakfast the dentist from the twelfth floor
     alway dips his coat in their tea."
     
     And she says: "Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, 
     oh boy do I love you!"
     And she says: "Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, 
     oh boy, oh boy!"
     
     And the park is so bright today,
     the air is like silver.
     And baby gets icecream
     and almost suffocates in a fit.
     And a little flying camera is taking fotos of us
     with little pink ribbons.
     and the doughnut man goes bankrupt
     right before our eyes.
     
     And she says: "Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, 
     oh boy do I love you!"
     And she says: "Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, 
     oh boy, oh boy!"
     
    " Well aren't these glorious times", she says,
     "you can get everything free on a ticket.
     Only yesterday I got insured against
     melancholia and fear of death.
     And everybody is having phones in their cars
     and credit cards and social security numbers.
     And even the policemen
     are wearing valentines in their hair."
     
     And she says: "Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, 
     oh boy do I love you!"
     And she says: "Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, 
     oh boy, oh boy!"
     
     "I am a mermaid", she says, 
     "I'll never get drowned.
     But every time I see goldfish 
     I get awfully sick.
     And maybe tomorrow peace will break out,
     then we'll go and paint the town red.
     And maybe there won't be peace,
     but I'm sure, we'll hear about that."
